Please make sure your background check is current!

Parents – Please make sure your background check is current before you chaperone a field trip.  We need at least 72 hours PRIOR to the field trip to run the background check.  Background checks are good for 2 years.  If you are driving, we also need a copy of your insurance. If you have questions about whether you are current, you can email the Volunteer Office at lybaker@seattleschools.org or susweeney@seattleschools.org or call us at 252-2108.  Forms can be downloaded off the website at http://www.seattleschools.org/schools/johnhay/volunteering/vol_forms.html.

Don’t forget to pre-order your yearbook!

Be sure to pre-order your yearbook by April 1st to get the discounted price of $13!  If you wait until after that, the price goes up to $20 per book.  We will be placing the order May 1st.  If you wait until the books arrive in June, we cannot guarantee that there will be extras available for purchase.  Don’t miss out.  Order today,  Forms available in the Volunteer Office.

Bookshelf needed for Lost and Found

Do you have an old bookshelf in your basement or spare room that you would like to get rid of?  The Lost and Found is in desperate need of a shelf to organize lost lunch boxes, hats and other items that cannot be hung up.  If you have something that would work and are willing to donate, please email the Volunteer Office at lybaker@seattleschools.org.  Thanks!

John Hay Family Bingo Night!

Join us on Friday, Feb 11th from 6-9 in the John Hay Cafeteria/Gym for the 1st annual BINGO NIGHT!  You could win great prizes such as Sporting Event Tickets, Valentine’s Day Package, Pizza and Movie Night, and more.  We’ll also be selling hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones.  For more information and to sign up to help make this event fun and successful, please download the John Hay Bingo flyer and return it to the Volunteer Office.

AUCTION 2011: Our Journey to Excellence – Sat. April 30, 2011

We have a new location at the SODO Showbox.  We’ll be having an on-line silent auction as well as lots of new surprises.  Watch for more information to come soon!

Needed: Debate Judges and Timers on Sat. Feb 5th 8:30-11:30am

No experience necessary, must be 15 or older – qualifies for service hours!  Parent, friend, and neighbor volunteers are welcome, too! 

Tournament is at Lawton Elementary in Magnolia.  Orientation materials will be sent by email, and a half-hour training for volunteer judges and timers starts at 8:30am on tournament day.  Each judge evaluates two teams of 2 kids in two rounds.
