A HUGE thank you to our wonderful Move-A-Thon chairs: Carol Brown, Wendi Bernard, Caroline Ballaine, Darcy Hartz and Michele Levinger. They worked many many hours organizing and publicizing the Move-A-Thon, coordinating all of the volunteers, procuring donations, and making this a successful event and fun day for our kids and the John Hay community. We appreciate you!
At today’s assembly we celebrated the efforts of everyone… students, teachers, and families which made this year’s Move-a-Thon an outstanding event. With many cheers, a number of thank you’s and a few awards , we touted all of our achievements, including 1,270 miles run, 375 envelopes turned in and $71,000 raised so far!
The Move-a-Thon committee would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community of John Hay families for your time, efforts and support. Once again, the Move-a-Thon rallied our community for a great school year, led by a tu-tu wearing 10 mile running PE teacher, the rocker alter-egos of many a John Hay teacher and the super hero powers of our principal. All resulting in the cheers of many happy kids yelling, ” this is the best day ever!”

Everyone Wear Your Move-a-Thon Shirt on Monday!!!!
Let’s celebrate Move-a-Thon 2010 by wearing your Move-a-Thon T-shirt to Monday’s assembly!
Also, if you haven’t turned in your pledge envelope yet it’s not too late! Please turn in all envelopes as soon as possible. We are hoping for 100% participation! Thanks everyone!
As of today, only 60% of the Move-a-Thon envelopes have been returned. We are counting on 100% participation so please get those envelopes back to school ASAP! Even if you are waiting for a last check or pledge, we ask that you return your envelopes (the last few collections can be turned in once they are received).
As a result of the addition of staff to reduce class size for this year, our Music and Drama programs have been postponed for 2010/11.
We hope to bring them back! If we reach our Move-A-Thon fundraising goal of $90,000, we will have the funds to implement K-2 Music and 3-5 Drama enrichment programs for our students beginning in January!
Thank you for your continued, faithful support in bringing the very best learning opportunities to all of our John Hay students.
Move-A-Thon Pledge envelopes are due Friday, November 5. Please give generously
We have one more week to collect those pledges and get all of our donations in to our teachers by Friday, November 5th. So make sure that you get out there and collect your pledges, and maybe gather a few new ones!
Also, if you have some great photos from the Move-a-Thon, we would love to see them! You can either drop a disc in the Move-a-Thon mailbox in the office, or email a link to access uploaded photos to Caroline at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let’s make this last week count and get those pledges in!
Thanks to all of our students, volunteers, teachers and staff. Move-a-Thon 2010…The West Coast Tour was a huge success! We moved 1270 miles! That is the equivalent of running from Seattle to San Diego!!!!
Now we need to focus on meeting our pledge goal of $200 per student. Remember, you can still gather pledges either by the lap or as a flat amount donation AND you can double your contribution by filling out your company’s Corporate Matching Program paperwork. (John Hay Public School Foundation Tax ID #91-1699359).
So get out there and brag about your laps! Show off your new Move-a-Thon T-shirt and gather up those pledges!
Please turn in all completed envelopes, including all contributions, to your teacher by November 5th.
