Art Announcements

Hello John Hay Families:

2011 is off and running smoothly, with plenty of art and new ideas!!

Be sure to tour the school and observe Room 11o’s Planetary Pictures (downstairs hall); 2nd grade Japanese Family Crest Symbols Printmaking Project (both halls); 4th grade Japanese-inspired Noh Masks (upstairs hall); 5th grade Picasso Portrature (upstairs hall); 3rd grade 3-D forms (upstairs hall).

Do you know a local cafe, restaurant, or store on Queen Anne where we could hang some student work?  Can you ask a local frame shop if we can have the matte scraps to paint on?

John Hay Elementary’s unique pre-registration ID is:    18ACA1

The final deadline for receiving entries is March 16, 2011. Remember, you must write your unique pre-registration ID on the front of your child’s/student’s doodle (artwork) and include their first and last name. You must also include a completed Entry Form and a signed and completed Parent Consent Form. If you do not submit your submissions with these forms and include your pre-registration ID, your submission may be disqualified.

Please write this pre-registration ID on the front of each of your student doodle entries and send them along with completed Entry and Parent Consent forms to:

The final deadline for receiving entries for the Doodle 4 Google contest is 11:59:59 p.m. PT on March 16, 2011 (your entry must be postmarked by this date and time), so get your kids doodling now! Remember, you can only submit one doodle per child.

I encourage you to have your student(s) participate in these on their own time!

If you want to help with the annual auction, ask your classroom if they still need a parent or two to help with that.  I am happy to help any class with artistic and educational projects for the auction, just see/email me.
