Before and After school activities

John Hay Elementary hosts some of the best before and after school enrichment classes for our kids. Please remember, we won’t be sending home paper reminders this year, so if you are interested in your child participating in any of the following, please click through on the links for more information or for directions to print, fill out and return the forms to school. Most of these programs begin soon, so please apply today!

After school art – This fall, After School Art will explore art through music and movement!  Build funky instruments, construct a 3-D music house, paper mache a music sculpture, collage musical artist trading cards! Classes will be held Oct. 6 – Dec. 1. See for more information or to register.

World languages – SPANISH ~ FRENCH ~ CHINESE ~ JAPANESE: Give your child the opportunity to learn a world language! School Gym – Mr. Sturm will lead a variety of activities, from using the sports equipment (jumpropes, unicycles and pogo sticks) to playing organized games. Please print and return this form:  Afterschool Sports Form 2010

Drama Club – This fall we will be using GIANT PUPPETS to tell the story of St. George and the Dragon! Print this Registration Form and return completed form and payment to the Volunteer Office.

John Hay Chorus – Do you like to sing?  You can join the John Hay Chorus which performs at John Hay assemblies and Holiday Magic on QA Ave. Please fill out this “Join the Chorus” form and return it in your child’s red folder.

Chess4Life – Does your child want to spend Friday afternoons learning or increasing their knowledge of chess? Chess study has shown to increase math skills, concentration, memory, and self-confidence. For more information or to register online click here or to read their flyer click here.
