SSIA welcome letter

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year, new and returning families and staff!

All of us at Successful Schools in Action are looking forward to the new school year and continuing to work closely with our partner schools to ensure all students receive an enriching and challenging education.

SSIA is thrilled to extend our circle to include our new partner school, Queen Anne Elementary! We also want to extend a warm welcome to our four new principals; Oksana Britsova at Center School, Christine Helm at Lawton, Kari Hanson at John Hay, and Stacey Tate Loftin at Coe. We have already been working with them as our newest Board members, and greatly appreciate their energy and quick embrace of SSIA.

We are very excited about this year. SSIA’s model of collaboration is increasingly being recognized throughout the district as an effective way to leverage programs and funding across schools, filling the the many gaps that are left with budget cuts and program elimination.

Over the summer we have been looking at ways to strengthen and expand SSIA programs. With an increased focus on academic achievement we plan to provide more wrap around academic support. We’ll expand our offerings of workshops and forums, continue facilitating a broad array of collaborations, and build on our successes in Debate. And along the way we’ll remain flexible so we can continue to be responsive to community and school needs as they arise.

We greatly value all of you, our school communities, for your ongoing support and partnerships. We wish everyone a successful and fun start to the new school year!
