John Hay Partners Board 2010-2011 Nominations and Elections
Are you passionate about our school and want to participate in shaping its future? If so, please consider running for the 2010/2011 John Hay Partners Board!
The John Hay Partners Board is a decision-making body that represents the school community and directs the activities of its working committees. The Board is made up of nine parents, who are elected, seven appointed teachers or staff members and two appointed community members.
Board members work with the principal, Building Leadership Team and teachers to help design and implement the school’s goals and policies and manage the annual Foundation budget. The board also oversees the fundraising efforts that significantly impact the educational opportunities of every child, and, most fundamentally, it serves as an ongoing resource to teachers, staff, parents and other members of the John Hay community.
Candidates must be able to attend monthly board meetings, usually held the 3rd Thursday of every month from 5-7 p.m.
If you are interested in serving on next year’s board, or if you know someone that you would like to nominate, please contact Kevin Whitworth and Kathleen Morris (Kevin.firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com) by Monday, May 17th.
Those interesting in running for a position in this school-wide election need to provide a brief (2 paragraph maximum) statement of qualifications and description of why they would like to serve on the board (past examples are available) and a digital photo of themselves by May 19th. Ballots will be distributed to parents and guardians on May 20th and will be due back on May 24th. Results of the election will be announced on May 25th. New board members will be asked to attend the regularly scheduled board meeting on May 27th to vote on a slate of officers for the next school year.
