Important News from Merilee Corbit, John Hay School Nurse:

Jill Lewis, Student Health Services Manager, released a letter to families about the H1N1 flu.  In it she states that the district will continue to follow the CDC recommendations stating that families:

Keep sick children home until s/he has been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.  This includes staying away from school, child care and other gatherings.

Teach each child to:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially before eating and after using the rest room.
  • Stay at least three feet away from people who are sick.
  • When sneezing or coughing, make sure students cover their mouths and noses with tissues or sneeze, cough into the inside of your elbow.
