Student Safety related to “Bear sightings” in Magnolia/Ballard

As you may have heard, there have been “Bear sightings” in our Magnolia and Ballard community.  Although rare in Seattle, state wildlife offices receive hundreds of black bear complaints from around the state each year.  To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we will be:

  • Checking the areas outside of our school to ensure they are safe before we allow students out for recess or dismissal.
  • Talking with students in each class in age-appropriate ways about how to be safe if they come in close contact with a bear.
